Unsung Heroes

There are many heroes in our lives. Most of them went unnamed & unnoticed, contributing all they could to make the world a better place to live in.

You don't have to have superpowers to be a hero. All you need is a heart & compassion & the will to help.

Shed all the materialisation, forget the attention, the fame & the fake beauty you seek endlessly. Let your heart return to innocence, right where it was when you were born. Search for the true sense of belonging & someday somewhere you will be a hero.

Past. Present. Future

Yesterday I logged on to mmu online to check next sem's timetable. At that instant, I felt old...

So many semesters had passed by, now I'm about to register subjects for 3rd year final semester. It's the same procedure every sem but doing this now is so different.

I still remember years ago... I was sitting at the bottom of the stairs at home reading mmu's prospectus, particularly at the subject named -- mobile & satellite communication, under tele major. I was thinking... hmm... it could be interesting to learn that, even the title sounds cool... and lo! here I am now, delta already! and never would I thought a simple subject named "Electronics" will turn out to be hell~

Too many pictorial memories in my mind now, flashbacks... I'm learning all these years, not only academically but also about life. I've so many dreams that need to be completed, will I be able to make it? Inspirations. I place my fingers onto the keys & does it lead to my future? The first step is made, I shall explore musical wonders & rekindle this faraway dream. Time is short, I have lost myself in this world & here I shall stay, to spread these inspirations.

Libraries of memories

It was evening that day, when I sat on the wooden bench near the lakeside of Alamanda. Gushing waters from the lawn noozles formed a perfect projection before dissolving into tiny specks of water floating in the air and settling onto the carpet grass, the rock and onto me.

The weather was mild and windy, the laughters of children can be heard from a playground just behind of where I sat. Looking up to the sky, I saw dark clouds looming at the south of where I am. I turned and gazed at what lies ahead of me. I look through to the end of the sky and it was a greyish-blue tapestry tainted with faded orange smudges to the west of it. The breeze has made the leaves rustle. Shatters of evening sunlight came through the cracks of the leaves and befell onto a serene mind that was running through the libraries of memories.

It was indulgence in dreams of the past followed by lost memories. Unspoken feelings swarmed over me. Somehow, it connects to my deepest soul and even the furthest remembrance of my distant childhood memories had surfaced. The evening sun, the leaves, the breeze and nature itself left me roaming in the discovery of those that has been long hidden.

Over The Hills

Over the undulated meadows,
dandelions dancing,
grasses weaving in,
blades swinging out,
tis is a sunlight valley.

Young traveler,
who came from afar,
stopped over the hills,
hands clasped over heart,
whispers are to be heard.

Unclouded skies above,
soft hearth underneath,
traveler's hand opened,
restless voices ceased,
chosen destiny has set in.

Music within traveler's heart,
streamed freely across,
for traveler is sure,
life has its course,
over the hills.

World Year of Physics 2005

The World Year of Physics 2005 mark the 100th anniversary of the year (1905) where Albert Einstein's great works are published. This celebration will also raise the public awareness of physics. It all traces back to 1905 when Einstein published 3 great works on a leading German physics journal about his discovery of light quanta -- light consists of discrete, independent particles of energy; a detailed explanation on Brownian motion -- random dance of microscopic particles; and the theory of relativity -- the relativity principle and constancy of the speed of light. His discoveries and major contributions that revolutionized classical scientific thoughts lead him to be widely regarded as the greatest scientist of the 20th century.
A global relay of light is taking place at this moment to commemorate WYP. Lights are on in places around the world including Princeton in USA, Taipei in Taiwan, Busan and Seoul in Korea...and more.

Located at Lvl 1 & 2, Berjaya Times Square, it eats up 60,000 sq ft of space and provides more than 200,000 booktitles!! Gosh, I'm drooling already~! It's open to public today (19.4.2005) starting from 5pm but I'm not sure people can start purchasing or not. Geez geez!!! Me soooo excited!!! Can't wait to pay Borders a visit~ ;)

Exodus

I just finished listening to Utada Hikaru's latest english debut album -- Exodus. At first i scan thru all the 14 songs to get a 'taste' of wat tis new album has to offer. I find tat this album has a very different approach from her previous albums. This time she has chosen a whole new genre, unique but weird in comparison with contemporary music. While listening, i referred to the lyrics and i could feel the futuristic vibes in her songs. Listening to it prompted me to imagine an over-populated city which never sleeps with a high speed railway above the streets channeling and stretching thru the city.

Immediately two songs (Exodus '04 and Hotel Lobby) caught my attention and i've played them again cos they're so nice to listen to. I can jus indulge in the mood of both songs n follow the streaming music into her world.

Exodus
1. Opening
2. Devil Inside
3. Exodus '04
4. The Workout
5. Easy Breezy
6. Tippy Toe
7. Hotel Lobby
8. Animato
9. Crossover Interlude
10. Kremlin Dusk
11. You Make Me Want To Be A Man
12. Wonder 'bout
13. Let Me Give You My Love
14. About Me

Old School Gatherin

A simple saturday evening.
Yet not quite as it seemed.
22 people from all walks of life.
After more than 6 years.
Second massive gatherin.
The class of '97.

We (li wan, ming lee, yiing wen n me) were the first to reach san fran cafe at 4pm. There was no sign of anyone expected except for us. As time passed by, we got alot of surprises. First it was zi jian, migod, ming lee told me earlier she saw someone lik him in mmu, n now he's realli in mmu!! :)) wat a coincidence! Second was the whole bunch of guys, our class monitor, 家进, i mistaken him for 国俊 :P n chee weng mistaken ming lee for 丽莹, hahahaha... got us rotfl! Third n most surprisin is phuay fhern! she has changed alot from physical to her attitude n is stunningly beautiful! It's gettin more interestin anticipatin frens tat wud turn up. Our usual gang all turned up, li wan, ming lee, yiing wen, phuay fhern, shuh yee n me ^_^

San fran is not enuff to accomodate all of us, so we changed to dome. woa... i bet we hav the longest table in there n the noisiest! we chattered lik we've neva chat before :P its so busy to keep up wit everyone, its jus so excitin n wonderful lik u've found many long lost frens!

may peng (the one who's behind tis ;) ) arrived late but not as jun yew, who is the main character and one of the reason why we gathered. as he'll leave for taiwan tmr to pursue his studies in sports, today's gatherin oso served as a farewell party.

at last, i saw wei teng! my closest fren in primary, she looks cool but her attitude, way of talkin is stil as old :) all of us got 2 pictures from the last gatherin, 义卖会 in chin woo. i din attend tat gatherin :(

we lingered til around 7 n moved out to have dinner. we took several 大合照 before goin to jalan alor for steamboat =P~ we had 2 tables to our own n begin our meal. wisps of smoke, clangings of spoons, exchanging of laughters intermittently... the atmosphere is so heart-warming n light.

天下无不散之宴席. we bid farewell to each other n 祝福 jun yew on his journey.

looks like it doesnt end here cos we might be having a gatherin again (or farewell) for kah ming who's goin germany nex month. til then, all the best to my frens~!~!

Saturday Quest

The old pc in my hse needs to be upgraded. With a pentium III processor n 128mb ram, it is not sufficient enough to survive in this source-suckin-applications age. Moreover it has a history of over 3 years, old huh? Thus we embarked on a journey to search for the pieces needed to complete tis quest along wit bee, my cousin (who in the same time needed a new pc) and wai kit (the pc expert :P) We met another 2 cousins of mine later n together we scout thru low yat. Without much idea we stopped at the shop where i bought pc last time. Haha, the way they inquired n bargained realli amused wk n me, wat an eye-opener :P After much hassle we settled everything but my quest failed, i did not buy anything but onli brought bac a map of pc specs... (oh... i forgot, i bought 3 ps2 games -- HP:PoA, Spidey 2 n Silent Hill 4 :D)

Wk left aftewards n bee suggested tat i walk wit em, have tea n go to their hse for dinner which was predetermined. Cool, i got the 'consent letter'. We walked around sg wang cos ching wana buy new phone. Haha, wat an amusing trading again :P Later on we had tea at Dome. Yummy~~ I love the ice cappuccino and the chicken mushroom pie~~ =P~ Thanks ching for ur treat! ;)

Since we're in lot 10, i thought of visitin py at page one. We went into a shop where ching wanted to buy bag, we looked around for quite long, saw sumthing in the wagon which irks our interest :P we tried on several skirts, pants n exchanged em each othr. hehe, at last i bought a sand coloured skirt which is quite pretty and its only 30!! ^_^ wow, really happy!! I reached page one but its too late, the girl at the counter said py has gone home :( so we left by mrail, reach peng's car n drove bac to my uncle's hse to hav dinner wit my parents n my relatives.

wat a happy happy saturday quest! ;)

Cassini-Huygen | Field of Dreams

Whole day studyin in library was depressing ::sigh:: luckily a few issues of Time (old and new) saved my depression and granted me a deeper insight into something which i've discovered today. first is about the article on cassini-huygen space probe tat has been travellin in space to explore saturn. it was named after italian jean-dominique cassini and dutch christiaan huygens (hehe, i remember him, weve came across huygen's principle wert :P) wat captivates me most is the black and white pictures of saturn and its beautiful rings. made of water ice, the rings surround its planet like a disc with faint lines. space exploration is truly magnificent and interestin, sumthing unimaginable by the minds of human nowadays might be discovered in times yet to come. for full report, try this Cassini-Huygens Home, Spaceflight Now Cassini .

another wonderful thing is bout this travel journal ive read of. it was written by jan morris, a renowned travel writer. it was in this double issue of Asian Journey-The Road To Paradise which revolves around the theme in search for paradise. when i read her account of her magical journey through the realms of himalaya, i knew i have found it. her way of writing came through me as sumthing which ive been searchin for so long. i was overwhelmed when i read the whole thing n was overjoyed of this piece of jewel. here is an excerpt from the article entitled Field of Dreams:

"If paradise is the stuff of the conventional promise, all sweetmeats and complaisant houris, then I certainly have never experienced it. But a nirvana of a different kind I did transiently enter half a century ago, when I was on my way back to Kathmandu from Mount Everest, where I had been writing for the Times of London about the first climbers ever to make it to the top." - Jan Morris, Field of Dreams.

for advance reading, you can visit this link >> TIMEasia Magazine: Field of Dreams and read up the rest of the article (recommended! ^_^)

Song of the Moment

Song of the moment - Escaflowne: Yakusoku wa Iranai (No Need to Promise)

Listenin to the soundtracks of Escaflowne since yesterday. This song was now playin, performed by Sakamoto Maaya. Memories of yesteryear surfaced. The lending of this anime. Watching it and indulged in its own-kind-of-way story. Subsequent events after watching this anime. Happenings that were by pieces related to this. Etched on little by little in my mind it came back.

This OST is excellent, too bad I dun have the complete tracks and the compete anime too~ (I'm tryin hard to collect the rest now~) Here's my playlist:

1. Angel
2. Battle Theme
3. Flying Dragon
4. Gloria
5. Yakusoku wa Iranai
6. Romance
7. Yubiwa
8. Aoi Hitomi
9. Mystic Eyes
10. No Need to Promise

And here's the lyrics for Yaaku wa Iranai and its translation:

Nee, aishitara
Dare mo ga konna kodoku ni naru no?
Nee, kurayami yori mo
Fukai kurushini dakishimeteru no?
Nani mo kamo ga futari kagayaku tame
Kitto

Kimi wo kimi wo aishiteru
Kokoro de mitsumeteiru
Kimi wo kimi wo shinjiteru
Samui yoru mo

Nee, koishite mo dare ni mo itsuka
Owari ga kuru no?
Nee, aozora yori mo sunda
Tokimeki suteteshimau no?
Kisetsu kawari no kaze
Michi o hashiru zutto

Kimi wo kimi wo aishiteru
Kokoro de mitsumeteiru
Kimi wo kimi wo shinjiteru
Samui yoru mo

Tatoe ashita nakushite mo
Anata o ushinatte mo
Dekiru kagiri no egao de kagayakitai

Namida de ima yobikakeru
Yakusoku nado iranai
Kimi ga kurete taisetsu na tsuyosa da kara

Hitomi de ima yobikakeru
Yakusoku nado iranai
Hitomi de ima te o nobasu
Samui yoru mo

Translated:

So is everybody this lonely
When they're in love?
They'll hold onto a pain
Deeper than the shadows?
It's all to make us shine
I just know it. . .

I love you, I love you
I gaze at you with my heart
I believe in you, I believe in you
Even in the cold night

So, when in love, will the end
Eventually come to everyone?
So, would you abandon a heartbeat
Even clearer than the blue sky?
I run along the path of the season-changing-wind
The whole way

I love you, I love you
I gaze at you with my heart
I believe in you, I believe in you
Even in the cold night

Even if I lose tomorow
And you lose as well
I want to shine with all of my heart

I call out to you in tears
but I don't need any promises
That's the precious strength you've given me

Now I call out to you with my eyes
But I don't need any promises
Now I reach out for you with my eyes
Even in the cold night

Homecoming

I've opened a new blog once again! ;) This is the 3rd time I'm doin it (uh oh, am I beginnin to make it a habit??) I've stopped bloggin for a very long time, ooo... feel bad bout abandonin my blog-city site~! Perhaps of the absence in makin entries, I've lost my flair of writing. Everytime when I tried to pen down my thoughts, the words jus wudn't come out. T_T I feel tat I've abandoned the previous blog for a long time that I've lost "connection" wit it. No... I'm wun giv up my old stuff over new ones but blogs are different in this case (for me :P) I itch to start anew. Returnin myself to the embrace of blogger. Revive the enthusiasm of bloggin in me again. Oh... it's so unfair, I think I've made an unjustified opening entry for this blog. My previous blog's first entry was far better I guess (o_o)
